BarKa, a new initiative from the creators of locally known Powiększenie, Plan B and Plac Zabaw, appeared on the cultural map of Warsaw in the summer of 2012. During the day it functions as a café and meeting place and changes into a club and concert scene at night.
The barge, moored between Poniatowski and Świętokrzyski Bridge, was given a complete makeover. Two structures were built on the 300 sqm deck – a streamline, semitransparent, lit up bar and a grid of poles holding up sail cloths, lighting and speakers. During the night BarKa transforms into a lantern illuminating the dark bank of Vistula river.
